Representative Jim Murphy will seek reelection
Houston- Texas State Representative Jim Murphy made it official today that he will seek
reelection to House District 133. He was first elected in 2006 and reelected in 2010 and 2012.
"It is an honor to serve in the Texas Legislature and I’m thankful for the voters of
District 133 who have elected me to be their representative."
"We just wrapped up the 83rd regular session, and it was a success. We increased funding
for our infrastructure by investing two billion dollars for our State's water needs and by
allotting more tax dollars to build and maintain our roads. We restored funding to public
education and reduced expensive regulatory burdens on schools and teachers. Not only did
we do all this without a tax increase, we also passed legislation that gives billions of
dollars in tax relief to Texans."
"District 133 changed dramatically in 2012. I was able to meet thousands of constituents by
block walking and attending events, but there are more neighbors to meet and more work to do.
I want all of our constituents to know that my staff and I are always ready to be of assistance."
Murphy currently serves as chair for the Subcommittee on Manufacturing. He is also a member of
committees for Higher Education and Economic & Small Business Development. Jim Murphy is a
longtime resident of West Houston. He is married to Dr. Kathleen Murphy and has 2 sons in college.
